Internship & Research Symposium

A peer tutor presents their poster to a faculty member. The poster is on a tripod. The poster title is legible and reads "Analyzing the Absence."The Peer Tutor Intern program is a term long internship. Students receive 3-credits for successfully completing the internship, satisfying the internship requirement for the PPW certificate.

The Peer Tutor internship engages students in:

  • Five hours of weekly tutoring sessions working one-on-one with writers;
  • Regular mentorship with a faculty consultant and a peer tutor;
  • Supportive discussions about composition and writing center theory and practice
  • Frequent opportunities to practice research methods and public speaking

The Internships culminates in the Undergraduate Peer Tutor Research Symposium. Interns revise research completed in ENGCOMP1210 and translate it into a research poster format. At the Symposium, Peer Tutor Interns present their original research to the Writing Center community and the broader University community.
